John Gross, MD
John M. Gross, MD, is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Orthopedic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University. He earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as fellowships in bone and soft tissue pathology at the University of Washington and surgical pathology at the Mayo Clinic. Board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, he serves as the Director of the Division of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Gross specializes in mesenchymal neoplasia and has authored nearly 100 publications, including his description of the novel “Ossifying Spindled and Epithelioid Tumor (OSET).” He has also contributed several chapters to the upcoming 6th edition of the WHO Classification of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors, including co-authoring the chapter on Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma. Dr. Gross is an active lecturer, presenting nationally and internationally across nearly every continent.

James W. Snider, M.D.
J.W. Snider, M.D., is a Radiation Oncologist and the Chief Medical Officer for Proton International, LLC and Partners in Healthcare Technology, LLC. He specializes in the management of patients with Sarcomas, Head and Neck Cancers, Prostate Cancer, and others. Dr. Snider’s research and leadership focuses center on cutting edge technologies including Pencil Beam Scanning Proton Therapy and Spatially Fractionated Radiotherapy. Dr. Snider completed his Medical Training at Georgetown University School of Medicine; his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center; and his Clinical/Research Proton Fellowship at the world-renowned Paul Scherrer Institute Center for Proton Therapy in Switzerland. Dr. Snider has led the Proton International Consortium of centers since its inception. He has given numerous national/international talks and published widely in peer-reviewed journals, especially regarding Proton Therapy.

Ndubuisi Achufusi, M.D.
Ndubuisi Achufusi, M.D., is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician based in Greenbelt, MD. He has over 32 years of experience in the practice of medicine and is an Associate Professor of Medicine is involved in teaching medical students. Dr. Achufusi was Shayna’s primary care physician for several years and remembers discussing and going over pictures from Shayna’s trip to Israel where she helped the needy recover from heart surgery. Shayna also shared the joy of teaching and interaction with the young. As a Family Physician, Dr Achufusi has seen firsthand the challenges patients have with finding the right subspecialists or research information, navigating the healthcare maze, understanding diagnosis and coming to terms with prognosis. He strongly believes that CS Foundation amongst other services and resources, will help patients with CS bridge that gap.

Shaan M Raza, M.D.
Shaan M Raza, M.D. is a faculty member in the Department of Neurosurgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and serves as Section Chief of the Skull Base Surgery Program in the Department of Neurosurgery. His clinical interests include the surgical management of skull base and pituitary tumors using open, endoscopic and minimally-invasive techniques. Dr. Raza received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He subsequently completed his residency in neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital during which he also completed a two year NIH-funded clinical and research fellowship in neurosurgical oncology. Additionally, Dr. Raza has completed fellowships in skull base surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College – New York Presbyterian Hospital. He is one of a handful of surgeons in the country with fellowship training in the full spectrum of surgical techniques for the management of benign and malignant skull base tumors in addition to general brain tumors.

Traci Hurley, M.D.

Traci Hurley, M.D., Chair Daniel B. Hurley Endowment Fund has been a Pediatrician in Scottsdale, AZ for over 20 years. She obtained her BS in Biology from University of California at San Diego and is a graduate of St Louis University School of Medicine and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. two years ago, she took a sabbatical to become full time caretaker for her husband, Dr. Dan Hurley who recently lost his battle to chondrosarcoma.
Dan encountered many delays in his care due to insurance denials and this along with a similar experience with their son’s orthopedic surgeries fueled Dan’s desire to become an advocate to fight insurance denials while battling chondrosarcoma.
Traci has chosen to continue with Dan’s legacy in advocating for prior authorization reform. She is the chair of the Daniel B Hurley MD Endowment fund which will specifically help Chondrosarcoma patients navigate through insurance denials. Traci hopes to bring perspective from both the caregiver and medical side to the foundation.
