    CS Tumor Board

The Chondrosarcoma Foundation, in collaboration with the Sarcoma Oncology Research Center in Santa Monica, CA, is proud to announce the creation of the Chondrosarcoma Tumor Board, a specialized, multidisciplinary group of medical professionals who treat chondrosarcoma. The tumor board will review cases submitted by physicians/oncologists globally and offer specialized treatment recommendations for chondrosarcoma.

What is the Chondrosarcoma Tumor Board
The Chondrosarcoma Tumor Board is a panel of medical professionals from multiple disciplines including sarcoma specialists / oncologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists and orthopedic surgeons. All have experience in treating chondrosarcoma, an ultra-rare, complex bone cancer.

The Tumor board will not replace local tumor boards, it will however address aggressive sub-types of chondrosarcoma and cases where treatment options have been exhausted. It will also help patients living in parts of the world where treatment for chondrosarcoma is non-existent. The board will meet virtually as needed to review and discuss treatment options for cases submitted by physicians / oncologists from around the world.

We are hopeful that the existence of the tumor board will enhance treatment approaches for chondrosarcoma patients worldwide and serve as a valuable educational resource for medical professionals to advance the care of this ultra-rare bone cancer.

Who Can Benefit from This Resource?
This service is particularly valuable for:
✔ Physicians and Oncologists with limited or no experience treating chondrosarcoma.
✔ Physicians and Oncologists who have exhausted existing treatment options and are looking for new and/or innovative interventions.
✔ Patient’s with aggressive sub-types and efforts to stop disease progression are not working.
✔ Patients who do not have access to a specialized sarcoma treatment center.

By bringing together experts to share insights and experiences, the Chondrosarcoma Tumor Board aims to improve patient care and advance knowledge about effective treatment strategies.

How to Request a Case Review
If you believe you, a loved one, or for physicians / oncologists, a patient, may be a candidate for the Chondrosarcoma Tumor Board, please complete and submit the request form below.

Upon submission, the contact person listed on the form will be contacted by our Tumor Board Case Manager who will explain the process of obtaining authorizations and medical documentation needed to allow tumor board members to review and discuss the case with the patient’s treating oncologist. This documentation will include:

    • Diagnostic history
    • Pathology reports
    • Biopsy reports
    • Imaging pictures
    • Surgical history
    • Genomic Sequencing
    • Laboratory Tests
    • Radiation, systemic treatment, other interventions and outcomes

This information will be reviewed by the tumor to facilitate a comprehensive discussion between the patient’s oncologist and the tumor board.

    Important Note
The Chondrosarcoma Tumor Board is not a substitute for a second opinion. It is designed to provide expert insights that should be discussed between the patient and their oncologist. The final treatment plan is determined by the oncologist and their medical team in collaboration with the patient.
